I made a donation of $100 to Room to Read today. Thanks for letting me know about how important this issue is!

This is still a very important issue in many countries. I totally support your efforts, man and woman are the halves of one whole.
CJ, your initiative has spurred me to more action! I just made a donation to CAMFED to support girl’s education in Africa. They seem like a very worthy organization.
Our family is already involved with African education and literacy through the African Library Project. My wife Chris Bradshaw is the founder, director and full-time volunteer with ALP. We start small, sustainable libraries in African areas that need them the most. I’m so proud of her work.
It’s very grass roots. We have volunteers all over the U.S. running book drives in schools, clubs, etc. to donate gently used books, then ship them inexpensively to our African partners who organize free access libraries. Along the way, we educate schoolchildren about conditions in Africa and encourage their growth as citizens of the world.
Have a look at http://www.africanlibraryproject.org . We have shipped over 100 libraries in the past 2 years (over 100,000 books) and the project is really moving now.
Thanks again for your wonderful inspiration.
